There are many options to help people of all ages with disabilities and today’s older adults age well and live well.

• Arizona's Area Agencies on Aging (AAA)

  The local AAAs receive Older American Act funds to provide a variety of services to Older Adults. Services may include in-home assistance, respite care, case management, congregate and in-home meals, housekeeping, transportation, adaptive devices, elder emergency housing and more.

• Arizona Advance Directive Registry (AADR)

  The AADR was created by the Arizona State Legislature and is their registry is a database for the storage of advance directives (Living Will, Medical Power of Attorney, and Mental Health Power of Attorney). The Arizona Secretary of State oversees the registry filings, security, and operations.

• Arizona Assisted Living Federation of America

  Provides a listing of special combination of housing and health-related care designed to respond to the individual needs of those who require help with activities of daily living.

• Arizona Department of Insurance

  The Department of Insurance lookup tool to see information on insurance companies in Arizona.

• Arizona Health Care Association (AHCA)

  AHCA provides (at no cost) consumer information on skilled nursing facility care and assisted living, government financial assistance, long term care insurance, locations of member skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers in the state, and other pertinent information necessary to make knowledgeable decisions regarding long term health care.

• Arizona Long Term Care Ombudsman

  The primary purpose of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is to identify, investigate, and resolve complaints made by, or on behalf of residents of long term care facilities.

• Arizona Long Term Care System (ALTCS) - Arizona’s Medicaid System

  The ALTCS program is a statewide, managed care system which delivers both acute and long term care services through eight prepaid, capitated program contractors, plus Native American Tribes or Associations.

• AARP Caregiving

  Contains a variety of important information on many topics regarding long term care.

• Leading Age

  An Association of over five thousand not-for-profit organizations dedicated to expanding the world of possibilities for aging.

• Consumer information about Long Term Care

  Providing consumers with needed information about nursing homes, assisted living/residential care, other types of long term care, and much more.

• Guide to Long Term Care Planning

  This is the National Care Planning Council's free, noncommercial resource to help you understand long term care and plan for your future needs. It contains 32 in-depth chapters, written by experts on long term care planning and eldercare. Topics include assisted living facilities and nursing homes, medical care, insurance, financial planning, and caregiving. This is a great place to start if you want to learn more.

• Long Term Care Planning

  The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Web site provides information and resources to help in planning for future long term care needs; cost of long term care and the advance planning that is need.

• Medicare - Long Term Care Choices

  This Web site can help plan for Long Term Care needs as well as comparing nursing homes in your area.

• Medicare's Long Term Care Planning Tool

  This tool will ask you between 12 and 20 questions and provide results by comparing your answers to those of individuals with similar profiles. While limited to certain types and payers of long term care, it's a part of the more comprehensive Medicare Web site with lots of info on Part D and how to choose a plan. Medicare will help pay for skilled nursing or home health care if you meet certain conditions.

• U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging

  Throughout its existence, the Special Committee on Aging has served as a focal point in the Senate for discussion and debate on matters relating to older Americans. Often, the Committee will submit its findings and recommendations for legislation to the Senate. In addition, the Committee publishes materials of assistance to those interested in public policies which relate to the elderly.
